Why should any prisoners be given anti-depressant drugs?

They are meant to incarcerate, not depress.
Regardless of the convict's own unhumanity, surely denying potentially life saving medication to a depressed person is inhumane?
depression is an IRRATIONAL feeling of despair.
I would prefer them to have a RATIONAL feeling of despair.
